This imagetitleHeadstone of Susan Catherine Coker Callahan
This imagecommentThe headstone is located in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern, Dyer County, Tennessee. It lists Frank J. Callahan and Susan C. Callahan (Susan Catherine Coker Callahan) who was named Jessie Franklin Callahan at birth. It is unclear if he is buried in this gravesite as the death date was not inscribed.
The text inscribed on the tombstone is Bible passage from II Timothy 4-7 :
I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

This branch of the Susan Catherine Coker and Frank Callahan Families settled in Dyer County, Tennessee because Susan did not want to cross the Mississippi circa1896-1897.

At the time, all they had to their name was 5 horses, 5 children and one wagon. This was told by oral history by one of her daughters:
