Description
The Brown Pelican Squadrons glide above the surf along southern and western coasts. They feed by plunge-diving from high up, using the force of impact to stun small fish before scooping them up. The Ocotillo plant is a desert shrub that produces a spectacle of bright pink flowers. It is often called the ocotillo cactus, but it is not truly a cactus. The plant is native to the Sonoron and Chihuahuan deserts. Pink Evening Primrose, Showy Evening Primrose, Mexican Evening Primrose, Showy Primrose, Pink Ladies, Buttercups, Pink Buttercups. As the common name implies, most evening primrose species open their flowers in the evening, closing them again early each morning. Gymnocalycium mihanovichii friedrichii is commonly known as 'Hibotan' or "Moon Cactus" Pink Evening Primrose, Showy Evening Primrose, Mexican Evening Primrose, Showy Primrose, Pink Ladies, Buttercups, Pink Buttercups. As the common name implies, most evening primrose species open their flowers in the evening, closing them again early each morning. Most people never get this close to a saguaro cactus, and for good reason, these spines are very sharp! However, on closer inspection there is an interesting symmetry and color to these long-lived, tree-like, desert plants found in the Sonoran Desert around Tucson AZ.
