Description
Composer/bassist Marcus Shelby receives one blue marble on the set of the African American Shakespeare Company's 2011 production of Twelfth Night, directed by L. Peter Callender. Set in 1940s, this film-noir inspired production featured Marcus's original score and the bay-scape paintings of Kemit Amenophis. Marcus kindly gave us the permission to use his Twelfth Night musical compositions for a video story of about two friends, second graders Dezyre and Max, who start a litter club at lunchtime after learning about the impact of plastic pollution on sea turtles. The two students were moved to 'make a change' after attending a performance by The North Star Project, an arts education program led by Marcus, encouraging Rooftop's 6th-8th students to address environmental issues such as renewable energy, sustainable transport and waste management. https://youtu.be/TPHDFA3ApHM
