In 2011, Garza's elaborate cutouts, "With the
Blessing of Corn," promoting good health through gardening,
dance and art, were on display in the Education Gallery at the de
Young Museum.
In 1984, Carmen was commissioned by the City and County
of San Francisco, California for the San Francisco Water
Department to create a series of eight paintings on the everyday
use of water through history going back to the native people, and
up to contemporary firefighters. Included in the eight paintings
is a map of how the water is brought to San Francisco from the
Hetch Hetchy Reservoir in Yosemite National Park, California.
