Description
The Blue Marble walked the streets of San Franciso with Supervisor Eric Mar, who always traveled with a few marbles and a stone carved with the Chinese character for horse, "Ma," in his pockets. He offered a mahjong tile in exchange. From 2008-2016, Supervisor Mar represented District 1, the Richmond District, which includes the Farallon Islands, home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. The Farallon National Wildlife Refuge is one of 66 National Wildlife Refuges that have congressionally designated wilderness status, and is home to 12 species of seabirds and shorebirds, 5 species of pinnipeds, several species of cetaceans including gray, blue and humpback whales, and the Great White Shark.
