Description
Artist Flo Oy Wong and Vinay Patel, Director of Asian Improv aRts, come to the Mayeda Campus art room at Rooftop School for an inspired discussion about the role of artists to inspire connection through the sharing of personal stories. Flo and Vinay were there to meet with composer Marcus Shelby to start work on a show based on Flo's monumental art work, "The Baby Jack Rice Story," which in turn is based on her husband Ed Wong's (aka Baby Jack) stories about growing up in the segregated South with his best friends Boykin and Cush Cade. Founded in 1987, Asian Improv aRts’ (AIR) mission is to produce, present and document artistic works that represent the Asian American experience.
