Synergy as defined by Buckminster Fuller. Blue Marble with Milk Carton scuptures at the Exploratorium. The milk carton workshop was led by artist Aiko Cuneo, whose mother Ruth Asawa, a student of Fuller, was the first Artist in Residency at the Exploratorium in 1974. Ruth Asawa conducted several day- and week-long sessions at the Exploratorium during which she and groups of young people made complex geometric structures with empty milk cartons. In addition, she made two beautiful panels of folded paper with black-and-white patterns.
