Alt-Text
Dr. Michael Savarese, Professor at The Water School at Florida Gulf Coast University, receives his firsst blue marble with a fantastic infectious smile.
Description
Dr. Mike Savarese received his first blue marble while visiting friends in UC Davis, where he received a Ph.D. in Geology in 1989.

When I learned that he was an aquanaut who did spent time doing research in Aquarius, I knew Mike needed a blue marble, but I didn't have one handy in my pocket! Luckily, my sister Jan had one on her science shelf that we were able to pass along in gratitude.

Mike is a professor at The Water School at the Florida Gulf Coast University whose teaching and research interests concern the history of environmental change in coastal settings, particularly in response to human development, climate change, and sea-level rise. His research has helped foster environmental management and restoration efforts in Southwest Florida and assisted archaeologists understand the environmental context of Calusa Native American cultural evolution.
