Description
A blue marble for 3rd Grade teacher Amy Whitcomb, who shared her Blue
Marble children's book selection for Rooftop School’s “The
Voyage of the Blue Marble” 2011 exhibit
at the San Francisco Main Library Fisher Children’s Center. The
school’s K-5 teachers each shared a favorite book title for their
classroom’s participation in The Blue Marble Project.
“The Blue Marble” is a reference to the iconic photo of Earth
taken on December 7, 1972 by the crew of the Apollo 17 spacecraft on
its way to the moon, as well as the “Blue Game” played with blue
marbles created by Dr. Wallace J. Nichols.
