Gee Li Hong (Li Hong "Lillian" Gee Lew) entered the U.S. in 1933 as a twelve year-old. She came as her stepmother's niece. During World War II she contributed to the war effort as a welder in a shipyard. Now 78, she lives in San Francisco.
